Respirators are used to protect the wearer from respiratory toxins. Respirators can be used self-contained with respiratory filters (filtering respiratory protection) or self-contained with compressed air systems (isolated respiratory protection).
They are divided into full face masks and half face masks. Full face masks cover the entire face of the mask wearer. The face is protected from hot gases, heat radiation and other harmful substances. Half face masks cover the nose and mouth area and additionally the chin area.
